Unistrut is a support team system which can be supplied in various lengths and de depths which is used to suspend from and to the underside of various systems.
The standard used to channel is manufactured from steel it is hot it galvanised, free galvanised and stainless steel sections which are available in a number of lengths the main ones being 3 m and 6 m lengths.
Unistrut is a worldwide company which is part of the Atkore Group. There are a number of sections, brackets, plates, cable trays, basket trays all which make up the unistrut system and we will cover some of the main items below.
Most sections come in a plain and a slotted finish the latter allows various brackets and plates to be applied to it to create the various applications is required. A standard 41 x 41 2.5mm channe l will have an 11mm slot Channel caps –
An end cap which is used to close off the end of a piece of standard channel. This is made from PVS and simply slots into the end
Angle Brackets – These are used to allow you to build the sections in a frame work easily
Channel Couplers are designed to connect 2 lengths of the standard channel onto each other which give a safe and smart framework
Channel nuts – These cane come in 2 differant types plain and sprung. They are designed to fit into the standard sections so brackets can be fitted into the construction. There are a number of sizes and types
Stud Nuts – These are channel nuts with an in build stud Base plates are used when you need to secure your unistrut channel section to the floor. Again there are various sizes which depend on the application that you have
Channel Hangers are you when you need to suspend the main channel sections from girders or steel beams.
Clamp Bracket – Used for fitting channel to girders or other types of channel. There are various differant types of clamp brackets which include window brackets and toe clamps
Flat Brackets are used to connect main channel sections together . For instance if you want to create a Tee section where 2 sections meet at a 90 degree angle the flat bracket will be used to secure the 2
Trolley Assemblies- Basically this is 2 sets of wheel which are side by side and fit inside of the main section and allow it to move backwards and forwards along the main section When these sections and accessories are placed together it can provide your installation with a very storng and rigid framework to allow you construction to operate in a sensible fashion.
There are a number of other companies which produce rival products most of which are of a decent quality but the brand name as usual with most products is the system which give you the most range, back up, and the quality that most installation require. By looking on the internet you can find a number of companies that can provide you with a good range at the right price.
